Keep the Factory ECU—Keep Factory Reliability
The Bosch MG1 ECU used in the 900 ACE Turbo R is the most advanced engine management system ever installed in a Ski-Doo snowmobile.
Developed through nearly two years of engineering by BRP and Bosch, it incorporates sophisticated technologies that aftermarket standalone ECUs simply cannot replicate.
Rather than replacing this advanced controller, Precision EFI recalibrates your original ECU while preserving every critical factory protection strategy, including:
- Advanced Cold Start Technology
- Adaptive knock control
- Real-time ignition correction based on fuel quality and octane
- OEM engine protection strategies
- Factory diagnostics
- Outstanding cold-weather drivability
The result is a snowmobile capable of producing up to 275 HP while maintaining the reliability and refinement expected from a factory-calibrated machine.
Clutch Calibration
For a stock spring and helix combination in good condition, use the following starting point when running Map 2000 (250 HP):
- Target RPM: 8,100–8,200 RPM
- Precision EFI Adjustable Ramp Kit: SKI-900R-CLUTCH-RAMP-77G
- Starting Weight: 81.0 g total
- Apply Blue or Purple Loctite to the adjustment screws.
- A screw head sitting flush with the top of the hole (heel position) is the most common starting point.
Fine-Tuning
Perform a full-throttle acceleration while progressively applying throttle to minimize track spin. Once RPM stabilizes:
- If RPM is above 8,200, add weight.
- If RPM is below 8,100, remove weight.
Snow conditions, temperature, elevation, and traction will all affect clutch RPM and may require minor adjustments.
Map 3000 Clutch Operation
The clutch should always be calibrated using Map 2000 (250 HP) with a target engine speed of 8,100–8,200 RPM.
Once your clutch is properly set on Map 2000, simply switch to Map 3000, add the recommended amount of Boostane Professional, and the additional horsepower will naturally pull the engine into its ideal operating range of 8,300–8,400 RPM.
No further clutch adjustment is required when switching from Map 2000 to Map 3000. The increased engine output automatically raises the operating RPM into the optimal range for maximum performance.
Important Notes
- The factory muffler must be retained for Stage 2.
- Bosch MG1 ECU Unlock Service is included and backed by our Lifetime ECU Warranty.
- An adjustable clutch ramp kit is required to achieve the recommended operating RPM.
- For optimum turbo response and compressor protection, we strongly recommend the Precision EFI Blow-Off Valve.
- For maximum reliability under higher boost levels, we also strongly recommend the Precision EFI Air Box Clamps.
Precision EFI Stage 2 delivers the ultimate combination of power, versatility, and reliability—offering three selectable power levels, up to 275 HP, and the confidence of retaining the factory Bosch MG1 ECU and its advanced engine protection strategies.
