Why You Need an Air/Oil Separator

Under boost, the engine's crankcase ventilation system carries a mixture of air, oil vapor, and microscopic oil droplets back into the intake tract.

As horsepower and boost pressure increase, these oil contaminants lower the effective octane of the incoming air/fuel mixture, increasing the likelihood of engine knock. Over time, repeated knock events can reduce engine reliability and, in severe cases, lead to engine damage.
